I personally think bacon is the perfect food and should be in a food group that stands alone. Something good happens when you cook this raw fatty piece of meat. Sometimes sweet, sometimes salty, and ALWAYS fatty. From the incredible smell to the perfection of the SNAP when you take that bite. It goes without saying that BACON is here to stay… !!

Many agree that there’s nothing better than waking up to the sound and smell of sizzling bacon cooking. Bacon is delicious and goes great with eggs and toast in the morning. Some may go as far as saying that bacon makes everything better. Unfortunately, despite bacon’s tantalizing taste, its reputation has been tainted throughout the years. So much so, many consider bacon to be a guilty pleasure and is “taboo” if you are looking to stick to a healthy diet. But in reality, there are many health benefits of bacon, just as long as you purchase “high-quality” bacon. By high-quality we mean bacon that is uncured, contains no antibiotics or hormones, and if possible, is organic. Believe us when we tell you that eating meat from an animal that was raised humanely, pasture-raised and was fed the proper diet while it was alive, makes a HUGE difference in the taste and quality.
When purchasing bacon, make sure you read the ingredients. Look for bacon that has a natural ingredient list, which should look something like this: pork, celery powder, cane sugar, sea salt, and spices. Stay away from brands that have added nitrites, dextrose, soy lecithin, or sodium phosphate listed on its label. In this case, the price usually dictates quality, so be prepared to spend a pretty penny on high-quality bacon, but with it’s worth it! However, if you can purchase your bacon locally get it from your local farmer, there’s no better way to know exactly what is going into your food (and what went into your food), plus its fresher!
Remember, too much of a good thing can be a bad thing, so enjoy bacon in moderate portions and make sure you pair it with a healthy diet.
